Faculty: Patricia Urda
Patricia (Patty) Urda completed her Waldorf Certification in the Applied Arts Program at Fiber Craft Studio in Chestnut Ridge, New York in Spring 2019. She began the program while working at Oakland Steiner School as Handwork Teacher, and Middle School Art Teacher. She has experience as a substitute teacher in the grades, assistant in the Early Childhood Center, and as a Parent Volunteer for nearly a dozen years.
Patty previously worked at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. She helped with the initial repair of Scott Fountain on Belle Isle, and glazed tile for one of the Detroit People Mover Stations. She enjoyed working with a team of artisans to bring turn-of-the-century ideals to life. She also taught in Pewabic's Educational Outreach, including the Art Centered Education program in the Detroit Public Schools. Patty co-founded Two Rivers Tile Company, and taught clay and fiber classes for adults and children at The Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens. She graduated Cum Laude from Wayne State University with a BFA concentration in Ceramics.
Patty grew up on the eastside of Detroit and now lives with her family in Mount Clemens. When she is not busy doing handwork, Patty enjoys year-round dog walking, watercolor kayaking, and volunteering her time at the local center for healing and meditation.
